Whether you are coming from the top or the bottom gives you the feeling of either scaling or falling off of a cliff.Ìý When this visual drama is combined with their well-known use in the 1973 film The Exorcist (Jason Miller's character dies when propelled down them by, one presumes, the devil), they become really otherworldly, especially at night.
